Jeff
has had a life-long interest in photography. At the age of 13,
he bought a simple photo processing kit and began developing his
own black and white pictures. Early on, his photos were of human
interest in and around Gainesville and from time to time The Times
would use his photos. Later, he studied photography at the University
of Georgia and at the Southeast Center for the Arts in Atlanta.
During
part of his service in the Air Force he was stationed in Alaska.
The vast landscapes and the raw natural beauty of the 49th
state inspired him to concentrate on landscape photography.
The
photos in this exhibition were taken in early May 2000 at the Keukenhof
Gardens near Amsterdam. The Gardens encompass roughly
60 acres and are planted with over 6 million tulip bulbs. Jeff
says, “The impact one feels on entering the gardens at peak
color is absolutely beautiful.” “I have never seen
such intense natural color anywhere else and I hope that my photographs
can translate to the viewer a sense of that beauty.” |
